So the snow has, fingers crossed, finally gone. Brrrrrr. Sadly it’s still cold and as a result I’ve been subsisting on tea, onigiri and beans on toast … and ramen. Yes I have the world’s …

I started watching Felicia Day’s web series The Guild back at it’s first episode. After all, anything inspired by World of Warcraft has to be good, right? While I was at Comic Con I managed to get a copy of the first season on DVD and I’ve been eagerly anticipating the second ever since.

The Guild focuses on Codex (Day) having to deal with guildmate Zaboo (Sandeep Parikh) and his unwanted affections. After AFKing, he turns up in real life convinced the pair are destined to be together, while she is trying to cope with her gaming addiction. It’s not long before he rest of their guild (The Knights of Good) get involved leading to an epic boss encounter with Zaboo’s mother!

I must admit to being very suprised when it was announced a couple of weeks ago that Microsoft has acquired the rights to the show and would be distributing it via Xbox Live (all regions), MSN and Zune.

So let’s get this straight: Microsoft buy a series inspired by one of the biggest PC/Mac-only MMORPGs in existance. Okay …

Either way the first two episodes of the new series have been released and it’s actually better than the first, I’m expecially pleased as Felicia Day retains the intellectial property and creative rights (translation: the show will stay funny and addictive).

Huzzah! Anyway, check out this page to catch up on the series as well as watch the new episodes!
