The Chronicles of Ceridwen: Mama Isis is (nearly) home!

Submitted by Ceridwen on Thursday, 28 May 20093 Comments

Outside is so much fun just not for Mama Isis. Mama Lesley left me on my own again this morning and she came back really late. It turns out while she was at Auntie’s getting her tooth drilled, she had a phone call from a lovely hooman called Kerri. Mama Isis was found this morning in a garage a couple of minutes away, on the street behind the estate where I live and rule the roost. She was trapped in that garage for two weeks. Poor Mama …

Duly mortified, the hooman went to her dentist appointment sobbing and stressed (thankfully her dentist-man was lovely and looked after her very well). She then had to go with Auntie all the way to Wymondham to see Mama and found out exactly what had happened. It seems she snuck into this garage – Mama does like quiet places – and accidentally got locked in. The hooman who lives there works away and came back to the sound of her mewing. He literally had to tear the place apart to find her as she was so weak she couldn’t even walk.

The hooman then called the local cat charity as he couldn’t get a number for the RSPCA and Kerri called my hooman after finding the number on Mama’s collar. The vet explained her chances of survival weren’t 100% but that the fact she was awake and eating was a good sign. They hope to discharge her tomorrow and hooman just had a phone call to let her know there doesn’t seem to be any long term damage to Mama’s organs so yay!

Oh but hooman was so upset to see her. Mama was thin, literally skin and bones. She recognised Mama Lesley and allowed her to pet her, even headbutting her gently (this is Mama Isis’ favoured form of affection). Her eyes were so sore and listless. Kerri said that her collar was literally hanging off her neck and Mama Lesley was very upset but relieved that she was alive.

Anyway it looks like Mama may well come home tomorrow. I do hope so.

Update: The vethooman called Mama Lesley late this evening. Apparently Mama is doing so very well she is coming home tomorrow. She’s still got a long road of recovery ahead but she’s using teh kitteh litteh tray and vethooman was amazed how quickly she’s recovering. So Mama Lesley and Auntie are going to get her tomorrow and bring her home. She has to stay inside for months and needs to go to the local vethoomans for a check up later next week.

Mama Lesley also wants to say thank you to every hooman, kitteh, doggeh, burdie and even wol who has been so supportive over the last six weeks.

[...] I must admit I and the folks at the vet were all amazed at the speed of her recovery, even if the bill was higher than I guesstimated. She’s not back to normal, not by a long shot, but considering this time yesterday she was a very poorly kitteh, Mama Isis’ namesake must certainly be watching over her. Isis has been pottering around, using the kitteh litteh tray and eating the bland medical food I was given to feed her. She has let me hold and seems to enjoy it much more than she did before, which suits me just fine. I just hope Ceri won’t get jealous. [...]
