So the snow has, fingers crossed, finally gone. Brrrrrr. Sadly it’s still cold and as a result I’ve been subsisting on tea, onigiri and beans on toast … and ramen. Yes I have the world’s …

Living the Freelance Dream: The ‘feel the burn’ edition

Submitted by Lesley on Tuesday, 16 June 2009No Comment

I went shopping in town on the weekend as I seldom get chance to go out during the week. Saturday in Norwich means a couple of hours out in Chapelfield, maybe a movie and a chance to spend money. This is never a good thing; I go to Hotel Chocolat, wander in HMV and Borders oh and grab some lunch too. This week it was Wagamama and the less said about the duck gyoza the better.

Anyway while wandering in HMV and trying to avoid the boxset section, I picked up EA Sports Active. I’d seen the ads on TV and this time of year makes me want to get a bit more exercise than the cold, winter months. I’m 22 stone, 5ft 1″ and have a long term eating disorder so with my trip to Japan only ten months away anything which allows me to get in shape is good.

Plus because I work from home so anything which allows me to exercise without leaving my living room is great; gym fees cost a fortune and the Wii seems particularly suited to fitness software. I bought Wii Fit on the day it launched and I love it but I was quite curious if Active was all it was advertised to be. I’ve been using it for a couple of days now and I’m really enjoying it. The work out is fun and genuinely doing me good. I’m feeling better in myself and doing the 30 day challenge. I can find the time and don’t feel forced to do it (as you would with gym fees).

That aside, we had a whopping storm last night. The girls were remarkable calm about it and Ceri was demanding to go out even though I knew she’d hate the rain. I ended up keeping her in on principle and curled up on the couch to watch House. It was so nice for the humidity to break and cool air to waft in, especially with a spectacular light storm to boot. But good on the girls for not panicking.

And with that, Azeroth and work calleth.
